The Value of an Inspection for Your NC Mountain Real Estate Purchase

A home inspection is a necessary part of buying a home in the Western North Carolina Mountains. You don’t want to be in a situation where you’re wondering if the electrical system works correctly or if there is some unknown problem lurking behind the walls. Even the perfect-looking home can have some major defects, so a home inspection is worth the cost to have done.

In most purchase agreements, the seller will allow a company to come to the house to do a typical home inspection, and most buyers will insist upon it. The inspection will review all areas of the home, both inside and out. As the buyer, you’ll receive a detailed list of all of the issues that should be looked at, whether they are large or small.

An inspection will evaluate these areas:

  • Quality of the roof
  • Plumbing in the home
  • Electrical system and safety
  • Condition of the interior and exterior
  • Heating and cooling systems

If you are selling your home in Highlands NC, Cashiers and Lake Toxaway, it’s a good idea to have a home inspection done before you put your home on the market to avoid any surprises down the road. As the buyer, if you’re equipped with the inspection information, you’ll go to the negotiating process with all the issues at hand.

Even if the home is brand new, it’s a good idea to have the home inspected. Spending a little money now can save you a whole lot of time, money, and frustration in the future.
